he 1999-2000 season was the first year of this<br />
t competition. In 2001 <strong>Manitoba</strong>’s Credit Union<br />
sponsored the <strong>Manitoba</strong> Diamond Ladies Provincial<br />
Championship for women 60 years and over. The<br />
name was formally changed to <strong>Manitoba</strong>’s Credit<br />
Unions Masters Women’s Championship for the<br />
2005-2006 season.<br />
In addition to the trophy the winner and finalist<br />
receive individual plaques. The winner also receives the<br />
<strong>Manitoba</strong> bison crests, provincial jackets and shirts, a<br />
travel grant and a banner to hang in their club.<br />
The winner of the Masters Women’s Provincial<br />
Championship represents <strong>Manitoba</strong> at the Canadian<br />
Open Masters Championship to declare the<br />
Canadian champion.<br />
The 2012 Championship was played at the<br />
Riverview <strong>Curling</strong> Club, Brandon, <strong>Manitoba</strong> where<br />
the Joyce McDougall team from the Brandon <strong>Curling</strong><br />
Club defeated the Rita Vandevyvere team from the<br />
Heather <strong>Curling</strong> Club to claim the Masters Women’s<br />
Championship. They competed at the Canadian<br />
Open Championship held in Montreal, Quebec.<br />
They finished with a record of 6 wins and 3 losses,<br />
which secured a spot in the semi-final game against<br />
Ontario. Ontario defeated McDougall in the semi-final<br />
by a score 9-6, which dropped them to the bronze<br />
medal game against Northern Ontario. Northern<br />
Ontario claimed the bronze medal by defeating<br />
<strong>Manitoba</strong> 10-7.<br />
The 2012-2013 Provincial Masters Women’s<br />
Championship will be played at the East St. Paul<br />
<strong>Curling</strong> Club, <strong>Manitoba</strong> from February 28 - March 3,<br />
2013. The Canadian Open Masters Championship will<br />
be held in Thunder Bay, ON from April 18-14, 2013.<br />
