Applications for extensions are processed by appointment, which<br />

should be made no later than one (1) month prior to the expiration<br />

of the entry stamp.<br />

Persons who have been issued a Work Permit/Work Permit<br />

Exemption, Student Permit, Overseas Missionary Permit, Certificate<br />

of Recognition of CARICOM Skills Qualification, <strong>and</strong> Minister’s<br />

Permit are also required to report to the offices outlined above<br />

to have the necessary endorsements made on their passports.<br />

Persons will not be deemed to be legally residing in <strong>Trinidad</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>Tobago</strong> until they report to the Immigration Division <strong>and</strong> produce<br />

their permit to have the relevant endorsement made on their<br />

passport.<br />

The extension offices also receive applications for entry visa,<br />

student permits <strong>and</strong> certificates of Immigration status.<br />

Short-term Business Visitors<br />

Persons who are entering <strong>Trinidad</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Tobago</strong> to explore<br />

investment opportunities, visit clients, attend meetings/conferences<br />

or conventions, <strong>and</strong> to engage in business negotiations are permitted<br />

entry as business visitors. These persons may be allowed entry<br />

for an initial period of up to thirty (30) days upon production of<br />

satisfactory evidence as to the nature of the business. Business<br />

visitors are not required to obtain a Work Permit.<br />

If the business visitor does not complete his/her business within the<br />

allowed period, he/ she may apply for an extension of stay at the<br />

aforementioned offices of the Immigration Division (see extension<br />

of stay). Documentation should be presented to prove that the<br />

business visitor are still currently in the process of conducting<br />

business activities. The granting of an extension is at the discretion<br />

of the Immigration Officer.<br />

Visa Requirement<br />

Nationals of some countries require visas for entry into <strong>Trinidad</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>Tobago</strong> depending on the length of stay or purpose of visit.<br />

Potential visitors should seek advice from their travel agents, the<br />

nearest <strong>Trinidad</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Tobago</strong> Consular office, or a British Consular<br />

office.<br />
