IMPORT DUTY CONCESSIONS<br />
Benefits<br />
Manufacturing enterprises are allowed certain duty free treatment<br />
based upon the provisions of the Third Schedule of the Customs Act,<br />
Chapter 78:01 (as amended). These concessions are discretionary<br />
<strong>and</strong> require application to the Ministry of Trade, Industry <strong>and</strong><br />
Investment (MTII).<br />
Under the Provisions of the Import Duty Concessions Act, a<br />
company can benefit from duty exemptions on:<br />
(1) Raw materials<br />
(2) Machinery<br />
(3) Equipment<br />
(4) Packaging materials<br />
Eligibility Criteria<br />
The company must:<br />
(1) Be a manufacturing enterprise;<br />
(2) Make a contribution towards the <strong>Trinidad</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Tobago</strong> economy<br />
in terms of employment, linkages, <strong>and</strong>/or an additional<br />
investment; <strong>and</strong><br />
(3) Have a positive local labour weighting <strong>and</strong> a positive local<br />
value added.<br />
Application Procedure<br />
The application procedure for applying for Import Duty Concessions<br />
is the same as that for Fiscal Incentives <strong>and</strong> can be done online<br />
through the TTBizLink website/portal at www.ttbizlink.gov.tt.<br />
