Seasonal Participation<br />
Participation in <strong>outdoors</strong> activities vary across the seasons<br />
• Of all <strong>outdoors</strong> participants, 61% participate throughout the year and a<br />
further 16% participate most of the year (three seasons).<br />
• Fitness in Nature are most likely to participate all year around/most of the year.<br />
• 90% of those that hill walk/ramble/Nordic walk; 58% of those who do outdoor<br />
fitness classes; 58% of those who mountaineer do so throughout the year.<br />
• 70% of those who do watersports; 46% of those who mountain bike; 46% of<br />
those who swim <strong>outdoors</strong> participate in the summer only.<br />
• Of all watersports, angling is the activity that is most likely to be undertaken<br />
in the winter months and throughout the year (Watersports Participation<br />
Survey 2013).<br />
• Participants are likely to swap their activity dependent on the season – skiing<br />
in the winter months and mountain biking across the other seasons.<br />
