Olympic experience
for CWA students
A group of public services students at the
Isle campus enjoyed an experience of a lifetime
during the London 2012 Olympics.
Six eager students undertook their
level 2 award in stewarding and door
supervision as part of the national Bridging
the Gap programme.
Adrian Kent, lecturer, explained “Under
the programme, the students gained a
wide range of work experience and extra
qualifications enabling them to gain paid
jobs throughout the Olympics’ 34 venues”.
S&H Motorsport
Former CWA students Rob Sykes and Tom
Harrison have set up their own business,
S&H Motorsport, which provides independent
racing support to drivers with no mechanics
or mechanical trackside support.
Both Rob and Tom knew that motorsport teams
want as much experience as possible so they set
up an independent race car preparation business.
They put an advert on a website designed for
motorsport enquires and received an email from
a man who had bought a brand new Radical SR4
race car and wanted them to run his car at the
race events.
Since leaving college Rob and Tom have
been going away with the Radical to race
events and are currently leading the
championship overall.
Rob and Tom studied the BTEC Extended
Diploma in Motorsport at the Isle campus
in Wisbech.
The Maine man
Patrick Manifold previously studied the First
Diploma in Sport at CWA and is now captain
of the basketball team at Maine University in
America. He is also studying for a degree in
business management.
