Costs Report). The document acts as the monitoring tool in which clear evidence will be given on the
status and progress of the Project’s WPs at a given cut off: WPs’ percentage of completion, Man
Power effort accounting, other costs accounting shall be some of the information included in the
report.
The Project Status Report will be regularly updated and delivered twice a year, shortly before the
scheduled Steering Group meetings; and will be presented to SG for consideration and
endorsement.
The Financial Report (Assets and Costs Report) will be delivered once a year: a preliminary release is
foreseen at the end of the year, the final release is scheduled in the first quarter of each year.
2.3.4 Engineering
Within Support Functions (see 2.4.2), Engineering Management provides general coordination of the
engineering activities that take place at the various product generation centres.
It provides guidance aiming at harmonising the engineering procedures applied by the product
generation centres, with special emphasis on the implementation of user-friendly standard codes
and formats.
It includes, moreover, the activities of verification and regression testing necessary to ensure correct
integration of new or improved algorithms into the operational chains.
This task provides the engineering documentation needed for the Review meetings. Configuration
management activities, described in section 2.3.7.2, are also coordinated by the Engineering
Management.
The WP, as shown in RAM (see 2.4.2), is responsibility of Telespazio.
2.3.5 Science Management
Science Management is responsible for the coordination of scientific aspects of H-SAF during CDOP-
2, among which the supervision of scientific tasks related to continuous development,
hydrovalidation and product validation.
It takes care of the revision of all scientific documents delivered and/or maintained during CDOP-2
and is responsible of the contacts with all participants as far as scientific matters are concerned.
This task controls the product requirements verifying the compliance with the user requirements.
Visiting Scientist activities coordination and management is also a prerogative task of the Science
Management.
The Scientific Coordination is in charge of the Science Manager, who attends to relevant meetings
when the case, at SAF Network level
The Science Manager will also accomplish to the settlement and running of the H-SAF Algorithm
Group and H-SAF Soil Moisture & Snow Scientific Advisory Group.
Algorithm Group:
The H-SAF Algorithm Group is a working group set up during CDOP with the aim of having
represented the knowledge on algorithm for the H-SAF products. Members are chosen among
Cluster Leaders, Responsible of Generation Chains or Responsible of product development. The
Group is under the coordination of the Science Manager, and have organized an Algorithm and
Validation Forum for each production cluster with the aim of discussing on the algorithms, their
maturity, their potential evolution, and their associated validation,.
