The South Shuswap, renowned as the Heart
of the Shuswap, offers a relaxed lifestyle with

The area is conveniently located on Highway 1 along the southern
shores of Shuswap Lake, with magnificent mountain vistas and great
views of the lake. The area is well known for its recreation and lifestyle,
but also offers great dining, culture, scenic viewscapes, specialty hobby
and traditional farms and a burgeoning artisan community.
The area is home to organic farms, an organic brewery and renowned
wineries that welcome visitors to come in and taste the Shuswap’s
award-winning cool climate wines. There’s winter activities too, in the
South Shuswap’s moderate climate: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing,
sleigh rides and great ice fishing.
Sorrento offers all the amenities and services necessary to make
your visit to this area enjoyable. At Notch Hill you will find preserved
buildings depicting the area’s
history as a railway stop. In
Blind Bay, visit the Blind Bay
Market Place and the area’s
Visitor Information Centre.
In Sunnybrae, walk the short
trail through tall trees and cliffs
to the enchanting Margaret
Falls, cascading into
Reinecker Creek.
Each of the South Shuswap’s
communities - Balmoral, Blind
Bay, Eagle Bay, Notch Hill,
Skimikin, Sorrento, Sunnybrae,
Tappen, White Lake, and
Wild Rose Bay - are unique in
character. Some are rich in
history and others are relatively
new settlements. They all
