Is the Shuswap’s legendary Monashee
powder calling your name?
Make this a winter to remember with a Shuswap ski
vacation. Here, you’re close to resorts and stunning
wilderness. Whether you’re seeking speedy downhill
thrills or solitary moonlight excursions or dream of carving
elegant turns in remote bowls, your wishes can come true
in the Shuswap.
The Shuswap’s geographic situation provides mid-point
access to three world-class ski resorts: Silverstar (Vernon),
Revelstoke Mountain Resort (Revelstoke), and Sun Peaks
(Kamloops) — all within a 1.5 hour drive of the Shuswap.
In addition to resort skiing, the Shuswap also offers
off-piste and backcountry touring. The alpine highlands
surrounding the Shuswap lake system are an unlimited
playground for experienced backcountry travelers with
knowledge in avalanche terrain
and route-finding. Planning is
essential to any safe, successful
ski experience, so be sure
to learn about the trails and
conditions you’ll meet, and ski
prepared with avalanche gear.
Consult the Shuswap Trail Guide
for route information, and visit
www.avalanche.ca for snow and
avalanche updates.
There’s nothing like skimming
the peaceful, snow-covered
countryside on cross-country
skis! Nordic skiing is fun and
accessible for all, offers a chance
for quiet winter solitude and is
great exercise. The Shuswap
boasts one of BC’s largest Nordic
ski centres, experiences annual
snow packs between one and
three metres, and is home to one
of Canada’s largest loppets.
