lakes & Rivers
Lake culture shines as the spirit of the Shuswap.
It’s the backdrop to all of our stories and it
surrounds us at every turn.
This is where a soul can experience a solitary sunset plunge from the
deck of a houseboat, surrounded by nothing but scenery and silence.
Sit near the water’s edge at midnight by firelight, watching the stars
wheel overhead. Or enjoy a morning moment on the dock, listening as
the day awakens.
Shuswap Lake sustains many communities and lifestyles.
So don’t just dip your toes! Dive into sparkling waters in
all seven Shuswap regions. Experience gloriously warm,
welcoming Shuswap Lake at Salmon Arm. Around Chase,
wade into Little Shuswap Lake, Aylmer and Skamana
Lakes. Near Enderby, find Hidden Lake, Gardom Lake and
Mabel Lake. Around Falkland,
enjoy Bolean Lake and Pillar
Lake. In the North Shuswap
meet Grizzly Lake. In the South
Shuswap skip across Skimikin
Lake, Chum Lake, Phillips Lake
and White Lake. And in the
Sicamous area visit Mara Lake,
Twin Lake, Griffin Lake, Piper
Lake, Three Valley Gap Lake and
Blue Lake.
How are our lakes so special?
Some say it is the untouched
natural beauty and the tranquil
rural living that draw them
here, to refresh and rejuvenate.
Others say that it is
the exhilaration of water
sport activities.
There are countless
stories associated with
our lakes – stories not
only of people, but of
wildlife and the abundance
of nature itself. Our lakes
to continue to return and
explore again and again.
