Schedule AwardThe Act provides for limited term payments in cases where anemployee suffers anatomical loss or loss of use of parts of thebody listed in the schedule found in Section 8107 of the Act and inthe program’s regulations at 20 C.F.R. 10.404. Benefits underthese provisions are paid in the same manner as disabilitycompensation; however it is payment for a specified period of timewhich is proportional to the severity of loss. The severity of loss ifderived d through h the use of the American Medical AssociationsGuides to the Evaluation of Permanent Partial Impairments, 5thEdition. In cases where the employee suffers disfigurement of theface, neck or head, the Act provides that an employee will be paidan award of compensation not to exceed $3500.00.The Act precludes employees from receiving wage losscompensation and schedule award benefits concurrently for thesame injury. If an employee sustains a period of temporary totaldisability during the course of an award, the award may beinterrupted to pay the period of disability; payment for theremainder of the award will resume afterwards.
