INVESTIGATIONS (CONT’D)CREDIBLE WITNESS STATEMENTS:In order for a witness statement to be considered credible, the personsubmitting the statement must have direct knowledge of the claimedwork injury. Hearsay does not have any evidentiary value.The statement must clearly report what the person “witnessed”,including any oral statements made by the injured worker. If thewitness statement contradicts the injured worker’s claim, thestatement provided should be as clear and concise as possible.The Office of Worker’s Compensation Program will evaluate allstatements that are submitted in reference to a specific claim. Pleaseremember that any statement submitted is available to the injuredworker or his or her authorized representative.
