In Juneeach year, the office prepares for allthe necessary paperwork and processesthat are required for compliance. Itis also a time for accepting nominationsfor Council and for expressionsof interest as volunteers on committeesand boards of examiners.ASUM is a not-for-profit organisationwith its financial year ending on30th June. It is audited annually inaccordance with the Corporations Act,complying with the requirements as aregistered company limited by guarantee.ASUM is also audited annuallyfor ISO 9000:2001 for quality managementsystems and is accredited forthe international standards.All full members will be issuedwith a copy of the Annual Reportoutlining the achievements for the last12 months together with the auditedfinancial accounts.ASUM NZ joint meeting withRANZCR NZThis year the ASUM NZ Branchheld its annual scientific meetingjointly with the RANZCR NZ at theWellington Convention Centre from28–31st July 2005.It was well attended by membersfrom both organisations from NewZealand and Australia.The keynote international speakersfrom USA, Canada and Australia,supported by the local speakers, presentedan interesting program whichwas enjoyed by all. Once again, weacknowledge the valuable contributionof all our sponsors and volunteerson the Organising Committee,especially the co-convenors, CraigMcQuillan and Paul Kendrick. At theGala Dinner, awards were presented tothe worthy recipients by the presidentsof both organisations.At the ASUM NZ Branch AGM,Yvonne Taylor stepped down fromher role as Chair after two years ofdedicated service. Rex de Ryke waselected as the new Branch Chair andwill continue to serve the Societywell.Meeting with NZ Health MinistryThe President and CEO met formallywith the NZ Ministry of Health’sPrincipal Medical Advisor, Dr DavidGaller, in Wellington and discussedmany topical ultrasound issues.The ASUM Council held a fullday business meeting on Saturday30th July 2005 at the Duxton Hotel inWellington.ASUM Online Clinical HandbookMembers are reminded that this valuableeducational resource is availableonline. The ASUM Online ClinicalHandbook is presented as an educationalaid for experienced practitioners.The information has been contributedby many individual practitionersand we are grateful for this. A lotof work has been done by Dr DavidDavies-Payne, Chair of the Educationand ASM Committee. The Handbookwas a major project initiated by DrDavid Rogers when he was Chair ofthe Education Committee.DDU ExaminationThe DDU Part I and II examinationsare now all over and the results havebeen notified to the candidates. Onceagain, we are grateful to the Chairof the DDU Board of Examiners,Dr Chris Wreidt, all members on theDDU Board of Examiners, the individualDDU examiners and all the volunteersof ASUM who were involved in the10 ASUM Ultrasound Bulletin 2005 August; 8 (3)
