In July the Council tooka stand regard<strong>in</strong>g social scann<strong>in</strong>g and readers are encouraged to read the ASUMStatement and letters on pages 35 to 38 and to contribute to the discussion.Reader attention is also drawn to the Letters section on page 14 where Schluteret al. challenge the current mid trimester growth charts used <strong>in</strong> Australia and NewZealand.This issue also conta<strong>in</strong>s an eclectic collection of articles of excellent scientificvalue. In their case report, Fauchon et al. exam<strong>in</strong>e the grey areas of antenatalultrasound diagnosis of anomalies specifically <strong>in</strong> regard to abnormal fetal feet. Intheir article, Watson and Benzie exam<strong>in</strong>e fetal upper abdom<strong>in</strong>al masses and casestudy how ultrasound can alert referr<strong>in</strong>g cl<strong>in</strong>icians to the presence or absenceof pathology so as assist effective cl<strong>in</strong>ical management decisions. Davies et al.discuss the diagnosis of pleural effusion <strong>in</strong> their article and suggest that the treatmenttechnique described overcomes or avoids many of the limitations of exist<strong>in</strong>goptions. Wong et al., <strong>in</strong> their case study, report on antenatal diagnosis of vasaprevia and O’Leary provides a pictorial essay of left ventricular failure.Preparation <strong>for</strong> the Annual Scientific Meet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> Adelaide is nearly completeand the outstand<strong>in</strong>g scientific program is detailed on pages 2 to 5.
