A stabilization period of up to a half hour in theenvironment is often necessary to achieve new, accurate,measurements. The new MLX90616ESF-HCA thermopilesensor with integrated electronic stabilization function usesproprietary Melexis technology to reduce the stabilizationperiod to less than one minute.The MLX90616ESF-HCA incorporates a secondarythermopile sensor to detect temperature variations in thepackage and in the optical assembly. The signal of thissecondary sensor is used to compensate electronicallyfor the adverse effect on the measurement. In this way itis possible to make a thermometer gun which stabilizes inseconds and gives accurate results in extreme, demandingenvironments.The MLX90616 is intended to be used in applications wherethe user places a lens in front of the sensor to adjust the FOVto his application. The sensor-lens combination temperaturemeasurement must be calibrated by the customer.
