POSITION / SPEED3D Hall Encoder SeriesAS5410 - an absolute linear position sensorProduct OverviewThe unique 3D Hall sensor solution senses absolute positionin automotive & industrial applications and provides highestresolution position information. The AS5410 allows absoluteposition sensing of a simple two-pole magnet immediatelyafter starting up the device without the need for a priorreference run within the application. Position sensing ispossible over large mechanical travel distances even withvery small magnets; a travel distance of 40mm does notpose a problem for a small, 4 x 4 x 3 mm sized NeFeBmagnet, for example. Moreover, the 3D Hall solution’s output remains stable evenwhen the device is subject to external stray magnetic fields. This feature is a worldwide first and the result of a specialdifferential measurement technique including several 3DHall sensor elements. Programming the internal EEPROM ofthe AS5410 allows it to convert a wide range of geometriesincluding curved movements, non-linear scales, and tiltedchip/magnet geometries into a linear output signal. Inorder to achieve a perfectly linearized output (up to 0.5%accuracy), the AS5410 linear position sensor provides aninternal linearization table with 33 base points.Features & BenefitsImmediate absolute position output after power onFlexible with regard to magnet and IC geometriesRobust against external magnetic stray fieldsHigh travel distances with small and low cost magnetsApplicationsRoboticsIndustrial and automation position sensingMedical applicationsWhite goodsPOSITION / SPEEDWith four preset basic operating modes which are selectablevia SPI, the ams AS5410 3D Hall encoder offers quickand easy configuration. All signal conditioning is on chip, including compensation for temperature effects.67www.FutureElectronics.com/Sensors
