38 STU Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies6.2 Computing and Communication ServicesThe Centre for Computing and Communication Services at the Faculty of Informatics andInformation Technologies provides the following services for educational and researchpurposes at FIIT STU:− functioning of the faculty central servers and services,− functioning of the faculty system and network infrastructure,− functioning of the faculty information systems,− new servers, computers, printers, scanners etc. installation,− operating systems and specialized software installation,− upgrading and maintenance of computers,− services for faculty wire and wireless access points to the Internet,− functioning of the camera security system,− functioning of the IP telephony system,− data-projectors installation.The faculty computer network is based on a structured cable system and it is using 100Mbps transfer speed. It consists of approximately 200 personal computers and notebooksof the faculty staff and PhD. students, 250 personal computers and workstations in the educationand research laboratories and 30 specialized servers.The Centre for Computing and Communication Services also provides full service for educationalcomputer laboratories and full or partial service for research laboratories of theinstitutes.Assoc.
