JWF Fund 2010 Report #5319. Description of your activities with the JWF Fund: To train the entire community by providing awareness on rain water harvesting catchmentssystems. Rainwater collects from the rooftop of the school building. This water is guided into overflowpipes. The pipes will be connected to the underground tank. Installed the rectangular underground tank for rainwater harvesting from the nearby schoolbuilding with bricks, cement, water proofing powder (gypsum), coarse sand and sandstone slabfor roofing. The tank once it gets filled with rainwater, the water can be accessed through simple means witha bucket.10. Involved stakeholders:At the planning process: During the planning process of this project itself we have created a projectmanagement committee that is composed of District Education officers representing government, theschool headmaster, the school teachers, parents, community leaders. During the planning stage ourProject Coordinator has explained the basic parameters to the project management committee, sothat they understand the options available and can weigh the advantages and disadvantages of eachoption. Similarly, they must also decide between individual household facilities and communityfacilities.At the implementation stage: Community can take charge of the material transportation to the site,and to the extent possible be involved in actual execution of the project. This will ensure a sharedsense of ownership of the project.Operation and maintenance: Routine operation and maintenance has been agreed by the projectmanagement committee which will be taken over by themselves.11. Methodology of your projects or activities:The project has executed by the organization. At first we have formulated a project managementcommittee that is composed of the school headmaster, teachers representing government andparents and related associations, community leaders and representatives of the HEARDS to overseethe implementation of the project. We have conducted a group meeting to plan for the execution ofthe project.After finalizing the dates we have also formulated a training to provide awareness on water harvesting,conservation and management. These members were provided with training on how to conservewater and its resources. The main objective of the training was to popularise rain water harvesting
