Altogether 44 participants participated in the training.This is the first of its kind which is initiated in Chittoor District. After this training program we havedone the following: Started to choose the best and appropriate location for the water tank in both the schools.Finally we have finalized the spot. Started digging by measuring the area of the tank. Preparation of bottom portion of the tank with concrete metal and cement. Construction of side walls of rainwater harvesting tank with bricks and cement. Fixing of inflow pipe from the school building. Plastering of side walls using cement mortar. Construction of roof for the tank with an assembly of mild steel elements prepared as askeletal frame for the roof. Chicken wire mesh is tired over it and plastered in cement mortar.The roof is provided with an 60 cm opening. This opening is used for lifting the water andthis also serves as a manhole. Performance test Fixing of water collection system (gutters, pipes etc.) to the roof of the building from whererain water is to be collected and connection of water pipe to the inflow GI pipe of the Tank toflow rain water into it.12. The number of direct beneficiaries of your projects or activities:1,200 Primary school children from the 2 primary schools will be the primary beneficiaries. All of thesechildren are aged about 5- 12 years (boys and girls).13. Achieved outcomes of your projects or activities:This project has achieved the following outcomes: Got awareness among villagers for water harvesting, conservation and management. The project has become an ideal solution to water problems in 2 remote primary schools. An improvement in the enrollment and completion rates of the both the vulnerable boy and girlchild in primary school. An improvement in the hygiene, sanitation and essential learning as well as life skills of thepupils in the target area. The ground water level will rise. Mitigates the effects of drought & achieves drought proofing. Quality of water improved. Sensitization of children through their active participation about Water Conservation. Reduces soil erosion.
