95 Adam Kramer was born in Germany, immigrated, and enlisted in the 2d Dragoons. He was<br />

commissioned during the Civil War and served as a lieutenant in the 2nd U.S. Colored Cavalry.<br />

After the war he served in the west with the 6th Cavalry, being promoted to captain in 1874.<br />

Taking part in the Victorio campaign, he was breveted for gallantry at Ash Creek on 6 May<br />

1880. He also fought at Big Dry Wash on 17 July and earned a second brevet. He retired as a<br />

major, 6th Cavalry, in 1897. He died in Iowa City, Iowa, in 1901.<br />
