The College of Continuing and Professional Studies, theStetson School of Business and Economics, and the Tift College of Educationhave established committees to investigate, receive testimony, evaluate, andjudge cases brought before them by students or faculty members.Academic HonestyMutual trust is a basic component of any community. Mercer Universityexpects students, as members of the academic community, to take seriouslytheir positions in that community. Students are expected to ensure the continuanceof trust among themselves and between them and the faculty by acceptingresponsibility for their own work. The University considers breaches of thistrust and responsibility to be serious offenses.Academic offenses include the taking of credit for or unfair use of work thathas been done by another person. This includes plagiarism, cheating, and otheracts of dishonesty in academic areasPlagiarism is defined as the use of ideas, facts, phrases, quotations, reproductions,or additional information, such as charts or maps, from any sourcewithout giving proper credit to the original author.
