T.P.D.M.V.1.1(Al/2001)L3.5 Environmental Study Management Group13.5.1 Apart from the Steering and Working Groups, an Environmental Study Management Groupmight need to be set up. <strong>The</strong> need for setting up the Environmental Study ManagementGroup and the technical requirement for environmental assessment, if necessary, should bedetermined early in consultation with Environmental Protection Department at the stage <strong>of</strong>drafting <strong>of</strong> the Study Brief. <strong>The</strong> Environmental Study Management Group is chaired byrepresentatives from Environmental Protection Department. Other members consist <strong>of</strong>representatives from other relevant government departments at working level who aredirectly involved in the environmental aspects <strong>of</strong> the study. Scheduled and ad hoc meetingsshould be arranged to discuss and solve any problems encountered in an expedient mannerIn cases when other government departments need to be consulted, correspondingrepresentatives should be invited to attend these meetings on an ad hoc basis.1.3.5.2 An example <strong>of</strong> the terms <strong>of</strong> reference for an Environmental Study Management Group is asfollows-(i)(ii)(iii)(iv)(v)To monitor the study progress and review the study programme related toenvironmental aspects <strong>of</strong> the study;To guide the study team on environmental aspects related to the study;To ensure close liaison and to facilitate quick exchange <strong>of</strong> information onenvironmental matters among various government departments, relevant parties andthe study team;To identify and resolve differing opinions arising from the study on environmentalaspects; andTo receive and consider technical notes, working papers and reports on environmentalaspects to be prepared by the study team.
