Hazard Identification & RiskAssessment (HIRA)What is the purpose of this course?The objectives of this course are to explain and discuss the purpose of a Hazard Identification and RiskAssessment (HIRA), and how to use a typical HIRA Matrix.Course OutcomesOn completion of this course, attendants will be able to understand the purpose of a Hazard Identification andRisk Assessment (HIRA) and how to use a typical HIRA Matrix. Attendants will further understand how to planand prepare for a HIRA and how to conduct it in order to meet the requirement as contemplated in the OHS Act,1993.The following aspects will be addressed in this course:• The reason and purpose of a HIRA;• Legal requirements in respect of HIRA’s;• Explanation of terminology in respect of a HIRA;• How to use a typical HIRA Matrix;• How to effectively prepare for a HIRA;• The different levels of a HIRA;• The content of a Policy regarding HIRA’s;• How to compile a HIRA report;• How to present feedback to management.Course FormatDuration2 Days (Day 1 – Theory; Day 2 – Practical Assessment)EnvironmentClassroom training conducted at the client’s venue (In-house) or as a public course.Please note that a minimum of 10 delegates is required to run an in-house course.Learning material (supplied by <strong>LexisNexis</strong>)Student manual;OHS Act and Regulations;<strong>LexisNexis</strong> HIRA Matrix;All course material is provided in English.
