Below-Balance WeighingA port for a below-balance weighing hangeris located on the bottom of the balance.$ Below-balance weighing is not permitted inlegal metrology.§ Open cover plate on the bottom of thebalance.Important: set the balance on its side toaccess the cover plate. DO NOT turn thebalance upside-down.§ Using the built-in hook 1: Attach the sample(e.g., using a suspension wire) to the hanger.21$ Bore hole 2 (not on models S/SI-203, -602,-402, -8001, -4001): Carefully fasten thespecial hanger, or order a hanger directlyfrom <strong>Denver</strong>.$ Install a shield for protection against draftsif necessary.10
Leveling the BalancePurpose:– To compensate for unevenness at the placeof installationAlways level the balance again any time afterit has been moved to a different location.Only the 2 front feet are adjusted to level thebalance.§ Retract the two rear feet (only on modelswith a rectangular weighing pan).§ Turn the 2 front feet as shown in the diagramuntil the air bubble is centered withinthe circle of the level indicator.> In most cases this will require severaladjustment steps.§ On models with a rectangular weighing pan:Lower the 2 rear feet until they touch thesurface on which the balance rests.Anti-theft Locking Device§ To secure the balance at the place of installation,fasten a chain or a lock to the luglocated on the rear panel of the balance.11
