The benefi ts comparedto a simple intrinsically safe power supplydevice are primarily the enhanced numberof stations within a bus segment. Furthermore,a higher level of security is given bythe enhanced level of availability providedby the galvanic isolation to all sides in thebarrier (refer to page 33 for more details).Segment outJunction boxJBBS-49..-..../-ExThe number of multibarriers, which can beswitched in, and the usable cable lengthsdepend on the output power of the powerconditioner and also on the cable type.TURCK recommends the long-distancecable type FBY.../LD (see page 125) forthe main cable (trunk line); for the outputsthe standard cable type FBY.../SD (seepage 124) is recommended.Both system confi gurations in Fig. 2 and 3are operated with the TURCK DPC system(diagnostic power conditioner system,see from page 10 on).
