<strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong>s: A Profile <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong>s Service + Marketing is the n<strong>at</strong>ional infor m<strong>at</strong>ion and ad - visory center for the promotion of <strong>German</strong> films worldwide. It was established in 1954 under the name Export-Union of <strong>German</strong> Cinema as the umbrella associa - tion for the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>German</strong> Fe<strong>at</strong>ure <strong>Film</strong> Producers, the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of New <strong>German</strong> Fe<strong>at</strong>ure <strong>Film</strong> Producers and the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong> Exporters, and oper<strong>at</strong>es today in the legal form of a limited company. In 2004, the company was reorganized and now oper<strong>at</strong>es under the name: <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong>s Service + Marketing GmbH. Shareholders are the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong> Producers, the <strong>German</strong> Producers Alliance, the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion of <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong> Exporters, the <strong>German</strong> Federal <strong>Film</strong> Board (FFA), the Stiftung Deutsche Kinem<strong>at</strong>hek, the <strong>German</strong> Documentary Associ<strong>at</strong>ion, <strong>Film</strong>FernsehFonds Bayern and <strong>Film</strong>stiftung NRW represent ing the seven main regional film funds, and the <strong>German</strong> Short <strong>Film</strong> Associ<strong>at</strong>ion. The seven main regional film funds (<strong>Film</strong>FernsehFonds Bayern, <strong>Film</strong> - foerderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, <strong>Film</strong>stiftung NRW, Medienboard Berlin- Brandenburg, MFG Baden-Wuerttemberg, Mitteldeutsche Medien foerderung, and Nord media) make a financial contribution – currently amounting to €324,000 – towards the work of <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong>s. <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong>s is a founding member of the European <strong>Film</strong> Promotion, a network of European film organiz<strong>at</strong>ions (including Unifrance, Swiss <strong>Film</strong>s, Austrian <strong>Film</strong> Commission, Holland <strong>Film</strong>, among others) with similar responsibilities to those of <strong>German</strong> <strong>Film</strong>s.
