All of the faculty and admin staff, not to mention, the staff at the International Office, are here to make your stay at the university a successful one. As a member of the European mobility network EURAXESS, our university strengthens and continuously develops active international research and teaching contacts. We cordially invite you to become part of this network. We feel very strongly that, as a guest, you should feel comfortable and welcome here in Magdeburg. There are many things to do when planning your stay and shortly after you arrive here. This brochure provides you with information on every facet of life and will help you become orientated with the University of Magdeburg. Dr. Uwe Genetzke Head of the International Office OVGU International The internationalisation of research and teaching is one of the highest priorities at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. Integrated into a worldwide network of international relations and research collaborations, the university has always been a bridge between east and west. These international ties and partnerships make possible and intensify collaboration in the areas of research, teaching and further education. In addition, student and scientist exchanges foster intercultural skills and promote the countries’ technical developments through the transfer of scientific knowledge. More than 10 % of the student body is made up of international students – the national average. In addition to this, the university welcomes numerous international scientists every year.
