One individual conducted this search,noting the results <strong>of</strong> the search, the websites reviewed, date and a summary <strong>of</strong> the results. The search resultswere further reviewed by a second individual who identified guidelines and literature not previously retrieved.STEP 4 – Hand Search/Panel ContributionsAdditionally, panel members were asked <strong>to</strong> review personal archives <strong>to</strong> identify guidelines not previouslyfound through the above search strategy. Results <strong>of</strong> this strategy revealed no additional clinical practiceguidelines.STEP 5 – Core Screening CriteriaThe final step in determining whether the clinical practice guideline would be critically appraised was <strong>to</strong>screen the guidelines based on the following criteria:■ Published in English■ Developed in 2001 or later■ Guideline is evidence based■ Strictly on the scope <strong>of</strong> the original guideline■ Available and accessible for retrieval68
