Do not attempt assembly by yourself.You must review and follow the instructions in thisguide. If you do not assemble and use the <strong>S3.15</strong>according to the following guidelines, you could voidthe <strong>Precor</strong> Limited Warranty.Required ToolsTools that you need to obtain before assembling theunit include:❏❏❏❏❏❏❏❏❏⁹⁄₁₆-inch socket³⁄₄-inch socket⁹⁄₁₆-inch box-end wrench³⁄₄-inch box-end wrenchCrescent wrenchRubber malletWire tie cutter (cuts plastic tie wraps)Utility knifeStep stoolInstallation RequirementsFollow these installation requirements whenassembling the unit:• Fill out and mail the warranty registration card.• Set up the <strong>S3.15</strong> on a solid, flat surface.A smooth, flat surface under the unit helps keepit level.• Provide ample space around the machine.Open space around the machine allows for easieraccess.• Insert all fasteners in the same direction. Foraesthetic purposes, insert all the fasteners in thesame direction unless specified (in text orillustrations) to do otherwise.• Leave room for adjustments. Tighten fasteners(such as screws, nuts, and bolts), so the unit isstable, but leaves room for adjustments. Do notfully tighten fasteners until instructed (in the steps)to do so.Assembly Tips• Fasteners may become loose and fall off duringshipment. Inspect the plastic wrap and packagingfor loose parts. To alleviate confusion duringassembly, reattach the loose fasteners and pulleysfound in the packaging.• A black 6-inch scale with white numbers isprovided at the bottom of every assemblyinstruction page. Use this scale to identify thecorrect fastener size. The head of a fastener is notused in measuring the length.• Most fasteners are ³⁄₈-inch unless otherwise noted.To find out the length of a particular fastener,measure its shank (the long, narrow part beneaththe head). Refer to the following diagram:Fastener headFastener threadsShankTo determine thelength of a fastener,measure its shank.• Silver-colored zinc fasteners are used with thetitanium parts (Press Arm, Floating Pulleys, etc.).Black fasteners are used when assembling thestone gray painted surfaces.• Some pieces have extra holes that you will not use.Use only those holes indicated in the instructionsand illustrations.• Read all caution notes on each page beforecompleting that step.• While you may be able to assemble the <strong>S3.15</strong> byreading the illustrations only, refer to the text forimportant safety cautions and notes.Preparationspage 5

Place the Guide Rods into the two outside holes inthe Main <strong>Base</strong>.CAUTION: The lubricant on the Guide Rods canstain clothes. Wear proper attire when workingwith or lubricating the Guide Rods.B. Place one Guide Rod Spacer and one WeightCushion on each Guide Rod and allow it to slidedown and rest on the Main <strong>Base</strong>.Note: Guide Rod Spacers do not need to beinstalled if the Heavy Stack Option is purchasedthrough your dealer.C. Add the 10-lb weights. For ease of weight pinplacement and use, orient the curve on the weightplate to the desired side of the unit. Position theweight plate so the plastic bushing is on top andhold your finger over the plastic bushing to preventit from popping out.CAUTION: The weights are heavy! Handlethe weights carefully so as not to drop themor injure yourself. Pick up and place oneweight at a time on the Guide Rods. Do notangle the Guide Rods to such a degree thatthey dislodge the Guide Rod Spacers orWeight Cushions. Feed the cable aroundthe pulley as shown, and then replace thefasteners and finger tighten. Wrench tighten allpulley fasteners once you have completed theinstallation of each cable assembly.A. At the end of the Top Beam, attach the Lat Bar tothe Main Cable using a spring clip.Note: The two small hooks at the end of the TopBeam can be used to store the Lat Bar when it’snot in use.B. Install the Triceps Straps to the Ab Cable using thespring clip.To vary your exercise routine, you can replace theLat Bar and attach the Triceps Straps to the MainCable.C. Attach the Curl Bar to the Leg Extension Cableusing the short piece of chain and two spring clips(installed at each end of the chain).To work out leg muscle groups, you can attach aSoft Ankle Strap, to the end of the cable, instead ofthe curl bar.D. <strong>S3.15</strong> Assembly and Maintenance Guide2. Cable AdjustmentsYou may need to adjust the cables after installation andperiodically thereafter. If the cables remain slack afteryou have followed the steps found in Cable Tension,perform the following:A. Loosen the jam nut on the Weight Stack threadedend to expose additional threads. Adjust thethreaded end until the slack is removed.B. Loosen the jam nuts on the Floating Pulleysthreaded ends. Adjust the threaded ends until theslack is removed. Make sure the amount of threadsexposed on one pulley is about the same as theother pulley.C. Check the Top Cap Weight to make sure it remainswell-seated on the Weight Stack and then retightenthe jam nuts.D. MaintenanceGuide RodsLubricate the Guide Rods every six months.InspectionInspect the unit daily.LubricantGuide RodLook and listen for loose fasteners, cable tensionissues, unusual noises and any other indications thatthe equipment may be in need of service.You are responsible for the proper maintenance of theunit as discussed in this manual. Use a clean,nonabrasive cloth and light pressure to avoidscratching the acrylic surface.The acrylic Shrouds on the <strong>S3.15</strong> are easily scratchedor damaged through improper cleaning techniques. Toavoid problems, dust the shrouds often with a clean,lint-free cloth and light pressure. Avoid rubbing dirt orgrit into the surface. If you use glass cleaner or asimilar product, make sure the label states that it issafe to use on Plexiglas® or acrylic products.Important: DO NOT use ketones, aromatics, esters,halogens, window cleaning sprays, alcohol, kitchenscouring compounds, or solvents (such as acetone,benzene, gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, or thinners).Do not use ammonia-based cleaning solutionsbecause the ammonia destroys the plastic coating.To remove light scratches on the smooth side only, usea buffing compound such as, car wax. If the internal components are not installed by the factory or by anauthorized dealer as part of the original sale and delivery, they have a 90-day parts and laborlimited warranty. All components that are not internally connected have 90-day parts only limitedwarranty.
