Richard BakerRichard chairs <strong>the</strong> anti-discrimination expert group within AGE, <strong>the</strong> European Older People’s Platform,which supports anti-discrimination work across Europe and involves representation from <strong>the</strong> 25Member States of <strong>the</strong> EU and international associations. Richard works on a number of key areas forAGE including employment and productive ageing, anti-discrimination, regional policy and ruralaffairs.In <strong>the</strong> field of discrimination, Richard represented <strong>Age</strong> Concern as a member of <strong>the</strong> DTI’s <strong>Age</strong>Advisory Group between 2001 and 2004, and advised on <strong>the</strong> implementation of <strong>the</strong> EU EmploymentDirective. He has also participated in <strong>the</strong> DTI’s Fair Markets project.He is a board member of PRIME, an initiative which promotes self-employment for older people, anda Trustee of <strong>the</strong> Employers Forum on <strong>Age</strong> (EFA), an employer-led organisation which promotes agediversity in employment.Bob CarrollFollowing careers in teaching and <strong>the</strong> management of a variety of projects for voluntary andstatu<strong>to</strong>ry social welfare agencies, Bob Carroll was appointed as <strong>the</strong> first executive of <strong>the</strong> NationalCouncil for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Age</strong>d, and subsequently Direc<strong>to</strong>r of <strong>the</strong> NCAOP, a statu<strong>to</strong>ry body established by <strong>the</strong>Minister for Health and Children <strong>to</strong> advise on all aspects of ageing and older people.74Loretta CrawleyLoretta Crawley is currently employed as a lecturer in <strong>the</strong> School of Nursing and Midwifery, UniversityCollege Dublin. She is a registered general nurse, registered midwife, registered orthopaedic nurseand nurse tu<strong>to</strong>r, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Studies from UCD.Loretta completed a Masters in <strong>Equality</strong> Studies and is now a registered PhD student in equalitystudies researching older people’s perceptions of ageing and ageism.Niall CrowleyNiall Crowley has been <strong>the</strong> CEO of The <strong>Equality</strong> Authority since its establishment in 1999. Prior <strong>to</strong>this, he worked in <strong>the</strong> community and voluntary sec<strong>to</strong>r on a wide range of equality issues. He hasbeen a member of <strong>the</strong> NESF and <strong>the</strong> National Economic and Social Council (NESC).Karen ErwinKaren Erwin is <strong>the</strong> Managing Direc<strong>to</strong>r of Erwin Mediation Services Ltd, a company which providescommercial mediation services in Ireland. Karen is an ADR Group accredited media<strong>to</strong>r and is also on<strong>the</strong>ir mediation panel. She is a member of <strong>the</strong> Irish Commercial Mediation Association (ICMA) and<strong>the</strong> Media<strong>to</strong>rs Institute of Ireland, and has thirty years of experience in dispute resolution.Karen qualified as a solici<strong>to</strong>r in 1976 and at <strong>the</strong> age of 28, in 1980, she became <strong>the</strong> first womanpartner of A&L Goodbody, Ireland’s largest firm of solici<strong>to</strong>rs.
