Tensaguide ® allows
access for all
As part of a recent refurbishment
to its reception area and improvements
to disabled access to its
building, Basildon Council has
called upon Tensator (the world’s
leading customer guidance specialist)
to upgrade its existing visitor
queue system. It is now
equipped with a new Tensaguide ®
solid beam queue management
solution, so that visitors to the
offices can easily locate and navigate
the queuing path to the main
reception and cash desk - a big
improvement over the old dispersed
queue system.
Located in the centre of Basildon,
the busy Council offices cater for
large numbers of people visiting
the building for many different reasons.
Following the refurbishment,
an organised queue system was
imperative to maximise the benefit
“Our Honeywell air
cleaners are brilliant”
National-award-winning licensees
David and Gillian Heyes are using
clean air technology to strike an
ideal balance between smoking
and non-smoking at the Garsdale
Country Inn and Restaurant, near
Bury, Lancs.
“Our two Honeywell high-tech air
cleaners are brilliant - you can’t
smell smoke even though people
are smoking,” said Gillian. “Nonsmokers
never complain about
smoke and can socialise with their
smoking friends without discomfort.”
Husband and wife, David and
Gillian jointly won the British
Institute of Innkeeping’s “Licensee
for visitors. The Council
specified Tensator’s Dual-
Beam Tensaguide ® system in
bright pink. The colour
matches the building’s
colour scheme, whilst also
enabling visually impaired
visitors to easily locate the
entrance to, and path
through, the queuing system.
The Tensaguide ® system
also features frosted infill
panels which incorporate
large queue directional arrows to
further help visitor flow. The posts
are socket mounted and have been
installed on a raised floor, with
floor screw locators that enable
correct positioning of the posts
after floor cleaning or maintenance.
The post and cross beams
are linked to form a sturdy, but also
adaptable, queue guidance system.
In addition to this, the width of the
queuing channels has been
increased to provide unobstructed
wheelchair access.
Tensaguide ® from Tensator is the
solid beam version of the popular
Tensabarrier ® system. It is available
in single or dual beam styles and
can stand alone or be easily integrated
with retractable webbing
systems its solid beam design
allows for a more robust system.
of the Year” in 2004, so are experts
in satisfying their customers.
These include regulars for whom
the Garsdale is their “local” to diners
from a wide area who travel to
enjoy the highly-acclaimed restaurant.
“We don’t want to ban smoking and
concentrate on food because we’d
lose our ‘local’ customers, most of
whom smoke,” revealed Gillian.
“With the Honeywell air cleaners
no-one suffers.
“One air cleaner ensures a healthy
and clean, smoke-free atmosphere
in the bar area, where we allow
smoking. The second ensures the
lounge near the restaurant also
remains pollution-free, not only
between the dining hours of 12-
2pm and 6-9pm, when we don’t
allow smoking there, but also at
other times when it can be full of
drinkers including the local football
team and football fans, most of
whom smoke. We don’t allow
smoking in the restaurant, which is
a separate room.
Honeywell air cleaners actively
remove pollutants and supply the
clean air over a large area, unlike
ventilators which only move air and
unlike air conditioners which only
cool air and adjust humidity.
PHS Waterlogic makes its
mark, with Watermarques
Leading mains-fed water dispenser
provider PHS Waterlogic
has just added a flexible, new
product range to its portfolio -
Watermarques.
The Watermarques system delivers
great quality purified drinking
water through ice-bank technology
and is designed to meet the needs
of three specific customer niches -
those requiring high volume dispensing,
dispensing in tight spaces
and multi-floor dispensing.
Correspondingly, there are three
distinct product lines in the
Watermarques range - Conference
and Banqueting, Space Saver and
Multi-Point.
The Watermarques Conference and
Banqueting system has been
designed specifically for high volume
consumption in the hospitality
trade. It dispenses top quality
chilled still and sparkling water
into bottles for table use at a fraction
of the cost of buying in branded
product. In fact, savings of up to
90% have been recorded with
Watermarques, compared to prebottled
hospitality water. The system
comes complete with smart,
dishwasher-safe, reusable swingtop
glass bottles, which can be
branded with the client’s own logo,
enabling them to promote their
own brand to delegates and guests,
rather than that of a bottled water
A moving message
from MFI
As part of its ongoing program to
inform and enlighten customers
of special event, offers and sales,
MFI have installed a moving message
display at its store next to
the company’s London HQ.
However, being that the store has
an aesthetically designed front
made of glass; the integration of
an LED display had to be carefully
considered before installation
The task of providing a solution
that would meet both design and
planning requirements was given to
Messagemaker Displays, one of
Europe’s leading suppliers of intelligent
messaging systems. Jim
Francis, of Messagemaker takes up
the story, “As a company
Messagemaker are continually challenged
by customers to provide
bespoke solutions to what are considered
difficult situations. Here
manufacturer.
Where space is at a premium - in
smaller tea-point areas, for example
- the same chilled water quality
can be enjoyed using the
Watermarques Space Saver system.
With Space Saver, the bulk of the
product - the filtration system - is
snugly tucked away in a cupboard
while water is piped to a drinking
water faucet. This can be added to
an existing sink or worktop, or can
be installed with its own drip-tray,
which self-empties into the waste
outflow. Either way, it’s a compact
and convenient way to provide top
quality drinking water - direct or
into bottles - in tight spaces.
we have a furniture retailer with a
reputation for leading edge design,
who wished to provide its customers
with regularly updated
information at a location outside of
its Flagship store”
Positioning the display was not a
particular problem as there was
already in position a flag pole sign
to which the new display could be
attached. Here we had power and
fixing positions, but no way of communication
with a display that
would need constant updating. Jim
continues “Once we had decided
upon the actual customers requirements
we designed and built a tailor-made
solution, the dimensions
of which would enhance the existing
static display. The paint finish
was to a specific RAL to ensure it
matched the existing colour-ways.
We incorporated sunlight readable
LED’s which provided a viewing distance
up to 150 meters. Finally we
overcame the communications
problem through the use of Blue
Tooth wireless connectivity. This
was done by installing a modem
within the body of the display
which would connect directly to a
remote PC within the building. The
display can be pre-programmed
and updated infinitum”
