Delegates at the 2005 M&E The Building
Services Event will hear how continuous commissioning
can help them get better long-term
value from their buildings - and the people
who work in them.
Jim Ure, managing director of ABS Consulting,
will be speaking at the M&E Event on November
23/24 at Earls Court. He will explain the principles
of continuous commissioning (ConCom) and
how it can create a more valuable building
asset. “There are tell-tale signs that a building
needs continuous commissioning,” says Ure.
“These include evidence of occupant dissatis-
Better buildings
mean better business
faction, high energy costs, high maintenance
costs and repeated system failure.”
The ConCom process starts with information
gathering from operation and maintenance
staff. There should also be an occupant survey.
The main building systems are checked for areas
of inefficiency. This information is then evaluated,
and a plan for action drawn up.
Ure says that this process delivers improved
business performance. “Continuous commissioning
is good for you, your colleagues and your
bank balance because it’s harder to do business
in a bad building. People who like their immediate
environments are happier and more effective.
Also, the capital costs of construction are
very small compared to the cumulative costs of
energy, operation and personnel.”
Continuous commissioning is a process which
for the M&E show from
Heizer (stand F21 -Hall 2)
Heizer (UK) Limited will be attending their
first major exhibition in three years at the M
& E Building Services Event in Earls Court on
22nd to 24th November 2005.
Andrew Yates, of Heizer (UK.) Ltd states:
“We are highly focused on this exhibition as it is
the ideal time to launch our new range of
Polaris condensing, gas fired water storage
heaters.
“The Polaris, which is available in four different
sizes, with outputs up to 1230 litres of hot water
per hour, will yield an efficiency of 106%. This
is achieved using a high quality stainless steel
(316) tank and heat exchanger, which will give
years of quiet, trouble free operation and
comes with a 10 year warranty on all stainless
steel parts.
“This technologically advanced heater more
can be applied to new build and existing buildings.
Ure points out: “ConCom does not entail
significant cost if the facilities team undertake
to carry out the process in-house. It will otherwise
entail only minimal investment in the
future well-being of the building and its staff.”
Jim Ure is vice-chairman of the CIBSE FM Group,
and is an experienced trainer and presenter. ABS
has developed its Continuous Commissioning
training package in partnership with CIBSE,
Abbey National, Mid Career College and Dti
Partners in Innovation.
Delegates to the M&E Event can see Jim’s
presentation free of charge. For more
than meets part L of the building regulations
regarding efficiency and environmental issues.
Polaris is also fully room sealed which eliminates
the need for conventional chimneys or
metal flues. In total we feel we now have a
product that is significantly advanced and that
will give us a considerable advantage over our
competitors.
“I will be at the show, along with my staff to
answer any questions on our complete range
and in particular the new Polaris water
heaters.”
Heizer who have been established in the United
Kingdom for over thirty years will also be
exhibiting a cross section of their Calorifiers,
Buffer Vessels and Chilled Water Vessels from
the company’s product range of 93 different
models. Reader Reply No.: 85057
