New Lapauw washer extractors for<br />

Wormwood Scrubs<br />

Her Majesty’s Prison Service has installed<br />

three new Lapauw Combi C1000 washer<br />

extractors supplied by Armstrong<br />

Commercial Laundry Systems. Wormwood<br />

Scrubs is a prison that has its own inhouse<br />

laundry. The 90 kg machines are a<br />

key element of the laundry which serves a<br />

prison population of 2,500 and employs<br />

25 prisoners. In addition to the prisoner’s personal clothing and bedding,<br />

the laundry processes general work including kitchen linen.<br />

The Combi Cl000 has a 3-compartment cylinder entirely welded in<br />

18/8 stainless steel and supported by a continuous shaft on heavy<br />

double SKF roller bearings. The system gives maximum access to the<br />

drum, which requires two doors to be unlocked when the machine is<br />

at a standstill.<br />
