Further upgrade for Tork
Premium folded toilet paper
A new Extra Soft version of
Tork Premium folded toilet
paper has just been made
available to customers - at no
extra cost.
And this is the second time in
six months that Tork Premium
folded toilet paper has been
upgraded.
New machinery and production
techniques were introduced
in June to make the
product both softer and whiter
than ever. The packaging was
also improved to provide a
tighter fit, allowing the paper
to arrive with the customer in
better shape.
“We have now upgraded Tork
Premium folded toilet paper still
further to make it extra soft,
which means it is the brightest and
softest folded toilet paper on the market,”
said SCA Tissue Europe’s product and market
manager Peter Broom.
“We have made these changes - at no extra cost
to the customer - because we want to heighten
customers’ awareness of the fact that folded
paper is the most hygienic toilet tissue system
there is. The market opportunity for this system
is great and we need to make it even easier for
our distributors to sell.”
Tork Premium Extra Soft is dispensed in single
sheets in a system designed to ensure that each
sheet is touched only by the user.
PHS Washrooms makes smelly
urinals a thing of the past
Unpleasant smells from men’s urinals could
soon be a thing of the past following the addition
of the PHS Sanisleeve
TM to the PHS
Washrooms product
range.
It has long been a
problem for managers
and owners of
buildings with public or
staff toilets that urinals
are notoriously difficult to keep
from smelling. That dilemma has led to the
development of various products, most of which
seek to merely mask the malodours caused by
urine, uric salt and sludge building up in urinal
waste pipes.
The solutions are often chemical based, contributing
to environmental problems and even
making malodours worse in the long term, without
really tackling the root cause of the problem:
blockages and foul gases caused by the
build up of uric salts. PHS Washrooms has been
working on solving the problem outright and has
launched the clever Sani-sleeve.
The PHS Sani-sleeve is a device which is inserted
into the modified waste trap of the urinal. It
uses a patented ‘odour lock’ design combined
with enzymes and friendly bacteria which actually
consume the uric salts before they build up.
Ian Osborne, Managing Director of PHS
www.practicalfm.co.uk
aimed at environments such as the
washrooms of hotels, upmarket bars
and en suite bathrooms. It is
refilled using the “Tork Top and Go”
concept, which allows the dispenser
to be topped up at any time. The
smart, slimline dispenser is available
in white, jade and quartz options. Each
pack of 2-ply Tork Premium folded contains
252 sheets.
The recent upgrades form part of a £20 million
investment in toilet tissue by SCA Tissue Europe.
In the spring, Tork Advanced toilet rolls were
given a higher quality base sheet to give the
rolls a brighter appearance and a better “handfeel”.
This followed the launch of a Tork Twin
mini jumbo system earlier in the year.
“We are investing heavily in Tork toilet tissue
products to bring them firmly in line with our
top class hand towel range,” said Peter. “We
want to get the message across that Tork washroom
systems are the best on the market.”
Washrooms, the UK’s number one washroom service
provider, explained that the introduction of
the PHS Sani-sleeve would change the standard
that men would accept in their washrooms. He
said:
“Urinals, by their very nature, can be a major
cause of unpleasant smells in washrooms.
“This new product tackles the problem at
source and it is going to cause a stir among
facilities managers, contract cleaners and
anyone responsible for the maintenance
and upkeep of urinals. They will
finally have a solution that really
works and will bring an end to
customer and client complaints
about smelly urinals.”
Nottingham East Midlands
Airport (NEMA) had previously tried a range of
products before discovering the Sani-sleeve.
NEMA Terminal Engineering, Manager David
Howell, explained: “We set about trialling a
number of products on the marketplace but
none effectively tackled the problem of malodours
and blockages.
“The Sani-sleeve system was different. We conducted
a five-month pilot scheme during our
busiest summer period when approximately
three million passengers passed through the terminal.
The installation of the Sani-sleeve
throughout the terminal building has eliminated
urinal malodours and resulted in a significant
reduction in urinal maintenance. We are
delighted with the product.”
Wireless alarms
for WCS
Configure, the UK’s largest commercial disability
consultancy, has launched a unique
range of battery operated digital wireless WC
alarms, to enable businesses and organisations
to meet their obligations under the
Disability Discrimination Act.
The alarms are simple to install, being based on
the latest digital wireless technology as there is
no wiring between the units. Maintenance is
minimal with a battery life of 5 years for the
key components, and an inbuilt low battery
warning system to alert the user when a battery
change is necessary.
The kit includes a pull cord, a reset button with
tactile sign and a flashing light and siren module.
All the components are IP65 rated and covered
with a hygienic wipe over front membrane
plate. In locations where the WC alarm might
not be heard, the system can be further
enhanced with a central monitor that can be
located on a reception desk as well as the addition
of a pager; ensuring staff are alerted as
soon as the alarm cord is pulled.
Configure is the only company in the UK that
represents a single source for the complete
range of products and services required by
organisations to meet their obligations under
the Act. It offers a comprehensive range of
cost effective and easy to implement services
that include access audits, auxiliary aids, building
adjustments and staff disability equality
training. Reader Reply No.: 85122
