PROJECT UPDATES• An oceanfront, Palm Beach residence is complete after an extensive exteriorrenovation including window and French door replacement, cast stone replacementand rero<strong>of</strong> to both the Main House and Carriage House, construction <strong>of</strong> a newbridge connecting the Main House to the Carriage House, replacement <strong>of</strong> pool andaddition <strong>of</strong> a new fountain and site landscaping.Congratulations to the <strong>project</strong> <strong>team</strong> for their tireless dedication to this <strong>project</strong>: GeneParker, executive vice president; Catherine Dzenutis, <strong>project</strong> manager; J.P. Ocampo & Associatesis the <strong>project</strong> architect.The Max Boys & Girls Club in Riviera Beach• Renovations have been completed for Palm Beach County’s Property Appraisers/TaxCollector <strong>of</strong>fices. While the building was occupied and fully operational, the <strong>team</strong>worked around the clock to meet the client’s needs and schedule. The <strong>project</strong> <strong>team</strong>deserves recognition for their commitment: Ben Clemens, vice president operations; RickRicalton, <strong>project</strong> manager; John Banting, assistant <strong>project</strong> manager; Grissell Santana,<strong>project</strong> coordinator; and Keith Richardson and Steve Hynds, superintendents.• A state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art training facility for Palm Beach County has been completed.The 32,600 SF multi-purpose gymnatorium includes training simulators andoutdoor physical training site. The <strong>project</strong> <strong>team</strong> <strong>of</strong> Ben Clemens, vice presidentoperations; Don Jones, senior <strong>project</strong> manager, Tanya Stiles; <strong>project</strong> coordinator; WoodyMcCurdy, superintendent and Saltz Michelson Architects are to be congratulated.• Northboro Elementary School modernization, a $25M LEED for Schools <strong>project</strong>,has opened to students as scheduled. The Hedrick Brothers Construction <strong>team</strong> andBRPH Architects took part in “Educating the Green Generation” seminar and tourfor teachers and administrators on August 9, with breakout sessions on BuildingGreen, Learning Green and Living Green.• Palm Beach State College’s Technical Education Center in Belle Glade, a $10MLEED New Construction <strong>project</strong> also is ready for students this semester, as scheduled.Hard-hat tours have been conducted throughout the <strong>project</strong> by the Hedrick BrothersConstruction <strong>team</strong> and Astorino Architects. The new building will be dedicatedon Thursday, September 16, followed by a high-school Education Day on Friday,September 17, and a Family Fun Day for the Belle Glade Community on Saturday,September 18.ACE MENTOR PROGRAMHedrick Brothers Construction is proud to have beena part <strong>of</strong> the ACE Mentor Program <strong>of</strong> South Florida’s<strong>project</strong> at Atlantic Community High School in DelrayBeach for the 2009/2010 school year. School staffmembers Jerry Crocilla, Don Grossman and Tim Sachseselected four students from the Career Academy toparticipate in the program.The students toured the Northboro Elementary Schoolconstruction <strong>project</strong> — a LEED registered modernization— and participated in hands-on activities at the site.Students worked on an RFP to design a trade schoolcomplete with student housing. The two <strong>team</strong>s<strong>of</strong> students selected sites within Palm Beach County fortheir <strong>project</strong>s. The design incorporated 17 shippingcontainers to be used in the design <strong>of</strong> the structures,as well as sustainability, community solution, urbanreuse/infill, and use <strong>of</strong> the local workforce.
