COASTAL PALM BEACH ESTATEAwardsAGC Build Florida Award 2004Renovation of Existing Residence• Preservation and restoration of existing 1,500 SF Living Room ceiling to original finishes with gold leaf accents. Preservedoriginal ceiling coffers and their original materials.• Preserved and restored the original ceiling coffers of existing Dining Room. Original coffers consist of horsehair reinforcedplaster materials.• For historical purposes, the deteriorated coral stone architectural features were photographed and samples taken forduplication in new coral stone.• For historical purposes, all window and door openings were photographed with surrounding details. All openings are in thesame place and have same stone surround details as existed on original residence.• Salvaged and reused the original floor timbers in construction of new floor system.• Duplicated original fountain in both form and location with new wine cellar in basement below.• Duplicated existing exterior bronze windows and doors with new impact rated bronze windows and doors.• Main House structural integrity was improved by replacement of exterior wall system with new.• Existing roof framing system was shored and preserved during structural upgrades. All existing rafter framing was secured tonew concrete beams that were constructed with roof framing remaining in place.Construction of Beach House• New Beach House with vanishing edge swimming poolconstructed within coastal setback line.Additional Comments• Installed 275’ of seawall - steel sheets with concrete faceand cap.• Auger cast piles for the Beach House. 150 piles had to belaid out and core drilled 35’ deep. The area was then regradedand the surveyor had to layout all 150 piles asecond time. The auger cast piles were installed in previouscore drilled location. Note: this sequence was done due torock encounter.
