C. Current rental or lease agreement indicating sixmonths residency immediately prior to the first day ofthe semester in which residency is sought. The leaseor rental agreement must include: the date the leaseor rental agreement was executed, the beginning andending dates of the current lease or rental agreement,the landlord or property manager’s name, address andphone number; and the student’s (or parent ofdependent student) name and signature.D. Utility bills with the student’s (or parent of dependentstudent) name and address for each of the six monthsprior to the first day of the semesterIf a change of residency status is approved by the publisheddeadline date each semester and the student is eligible for arefund, the difference between the previous residency statusand the new residency status shall be refunded. No Petition forChange of Residency Forms will be considered after thepublished deadline date.It is a violation of college policy to present false documentation.Registrar staff may verify the validity of the documentspresented as proof of residency. <strong>Lansing</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>reserves the right to make the final decision on residencyeligibility.Registration HoldsRegistration holds will prevent students from registering. Holdsmay be placed on student registration for reasons such asoutstanding financial obligations, overdue library items, or anincorrect address. Students should satisfy their holds prior toregistration in order to save time during the busy enrollmentperiods.Student Identification Cards(StarCard)New students registering at LCC should have their identificationpictures taken for their StarCard at the time of registration. TheStarCard serves as a student photo ID card, parking card, LCCLibrary card, and computer lab access card.How do students get a StarCard?Students must be currently registered for classes beforereceiving a StarCard. Please bring a picture ID (driver’slicense, passport) for identification verification, a copy ofyour class schedule, along with your student number andTechnology User Identification (TUID) to assist in speedyissuing of your StarCard.The fee to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged StarCard is$15. StarCards used for paid parking, which haveinsufficient funds, will be confiscated. There is a re-issuefee for confiscated StarCards.Parking (StarCard)Parking and ID Services provides assistance with parkingoptions.Simply stop by Parking and ID Services in the Gannon Building,Room 215.For more information, call (517) 483-1798 Monday throughThursday 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.Auditing ClassesA class taken as an audit results in no grade or credit for thestudent and is usually taken for purposes of self improvement orgeneral interest. Students wishing to audit must meet allprerequisites required for the course and indicate their intentionto audit at the time they register for the course. Audited coursescannot be applied toward a degree or certificate and cannot beused to meet prerequisites.The college allows students to change from credit to audit orfrom audit to credit by the end of the second week of classes(and other equivalent dates as specified for variable lengthcourses). Students electing to change from audit to credit areresponsible for having course work up-to-date at the time thechange is made. Changes from credit to audit through the endof the second week for 16-week courses (and other equivalentdates as specified for variable length courses) do not requireinstructor approval. Students should be aware thatexercising this option may have an impact on their financialassistance or on student employment at the college. Anystudent balance due created by a change in credit or auditstatus must be paid by the student. Changes in audit orcredit status must be requested by the student throughEnrollment Services/Office of the Registrar.Registrar/Student RecordsTo obtain information on residency, registration, graduation, orcheck on the status of incoming or outgoing transcript requests,contact Enrollment Services on LCC's Main Campus at (517)483-1200, option 3, or visit Room 203 in the Gannon Building.State and Federal LawsProtect the Privacy of Your RecordsProviding a Social Security number to the college is voluntary.An individual’s Social Security number will be used for keepingrecords, doing research, and reporting purposes. If studentschoose not to use their Social Security number, they will not bedenied admission to the college. However, they may be deniedcertain services such as access to some financial assistanceand tax reporting. The number may be used for the following:Identify and maintain student records at LCCDetermine or verify eligibility for services, certifyattendance, and report student statusMaintain LCC databases and/or other financial aidprogramsTax reporting purposesStudents will be assigned an ID number (TUID) which they willneed to access LCC records about themselves or to obtainservices. Please read the statement in the LCC <strong>Course</strong><strong>Schedule</strong> <strong>Book</strong> under student identification cards, whichdescribes how student ID cards are to be used.LCC complies with the Family Educational Rights andPrivacy Act of 1974 which regulates the release of SocialSecurity numbers and other personally identifiableinformation from educational records.Register early!
