Financial AidCall (517) 483-1200, option 2LCC School Code 002278Financial aid is a resource available to assist students with theireducational costs. Applying early, maintaining good grades,and checking their Banner Self Service account weekly will helpstudents navigate the financial aid process and ensure theirfinancial aid is processed in a timely manner.When to ApplyStudents must apply each year by electronically submittinga ―Free Application for Federal Student Aid‖ (FAFSA) to thefederal government at fafsa.gov. Students are encouragedto submit their FAFSA as soon as income taxes are filed. Iffiling for taxes is not required, the FAFSA can be submittedas early as January 1. The Financial Aid Office mustreceive the FAFSA application by the semester deadline.Fall semester deadline is August 1, spring semesterdeadline is December 1, and summer semester deadline isMay 1. Students should electronically submit the FAFSAApplication to the federal processor at least two weeksprior to the deadline to ensure that LCC receives theFAFSA application by the deadline. Late applications canbe submitted but will not be processed until after thesemester begins.Eligibility RequirementsTo receive financial aid, a student must:Be working toward an eligible program of study.Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non U.S. citizen.Have a valid Social Security Number.Be registered for Selective Service, if required.Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).1. Cumulative GPA of a 2.0 or better in allcourses attempted.2. Cumulative completion ratio of 70% or betterof all courses attempted (withdrawals,incompletes, audits, transfer credits,repeated courses, and all attempted coursesare reflected in this calculation).3. Completion of the declared program of studywithin the maximum timeframe permitted.Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in defaulton a federal educational loan.Not be receiving financial aid at another institutionconcurrently.Stay InformedStudents are expected to stay up-to-date on the status oftheir financial aid by:Accessing their Banner Self Service account atlcc.edu/bannerChecking their LCC E-mail account atlcc.edu/student_emailReviewing the LCC Financial Aid Web site atlcc.edu/faChanges in Enrollment LevelDuring A Refund PeriodIf a student drops any or all courses in a semester during arefund period, then financial aid eligibility will berecalculated based on the final enrollment level. A studentwho has received a refund prior to dropping any or allcourses during a refund period will likely have toimmediately repay funds to LCC. If the student is enrolledin the FACTS Pending Aid Payment Plan, payments will beautomatically withdrawn from the student’s designatedaccount. For more information, visitlcc.edu/studentfinance/payment_options.aspx.After A Refund PeriodIf a student drops one or more, but not all courses after arefund period, then financial aid eligibility will not berecalculated. However, students with Stafford Loans whofall below 6 credits of enrollment will enter either theirGrace Period or Repayment.Total Withdrawal From All <strong>Course</strong>sIf a student completely withdraws from all courses beforethe 60% point, then a Federal Refund Calculation will becompleted to determine what portion of disbursed aid mustbe returned to the federal government. LCC willimmediately return the portion of aid due to the federalgovernment and generate a bill for that amount to thestudent. The student must immediately repay the billedamount to LCC. If the student is enrolled in an activeFACTS Pending Aid Payment Plan, payments will beautomatically withdrawn from the student’s designatedaccount.
