ORAL ABSTRACTS - WEDNESDAY, 20 MAY 2015Copenhagen Centre for Team Sport and Health is an interdisciplinary research unit with heavilyevident based physiological knowledge about football as a health promoter. But to make thisknowledge work it has to be implemented in the real world and in that process one needssociological theory. A wide range of stakeholders (both researchers and practitioners) engaged inhealth policy emphasize the need for knowledge about how to anchor health related interventionsintended to promote physical activity and ask how such interventions should be organized andimplemented to be applicable in practice. The research project about Football Fitness, based onmany years of social science research and an a ongoing PhD project, is a unique opportunity toaccess the knowledge of how the concept "Football Fitness" is organized, implemented and adaptedin the participating clubs. And consequently gain knowledge of what may promote a successfulimplementation not only in the organizations and clubs but also in the lives of theplayers/participants. This knowledge is of great importance in relation to welfare/health policy byanswering the question of whether and how it is possible to make health related changes in theDanish sports model. If this sports model with its principles such as democracy, voluntarily workand social capital can cope with the health issue as Football Fitness is an example of, then it isworth considering it to be a model to export internationally.15:45 - 17:30S01 INJURIES - PART IS01.1Injuries in top class football- coaches are more important than doctors?Jan EkstrandLinköping University, Department of Medical and Health Sciences, Division of CommunityMedicine, Football Research Group, Linköping, SwedenInjury study is the first step in injury prevention.
