energy. environment. knowledge. Page 11 of 69 1.2.3 Sonic system In October 1999, a 3D-sonic wind measurement system was installed at the meteorological mast at level 50 m above DNN. Time series from the fast response sonic anemometer are collected and stored on a laptop pc, which is capable of storing time series (20 Hz data) from more than 6 months. Two identical laptops were used for data storage; one was offshore collecting data on the meteorological mast, and one was brought onshore with data from the last measuring period. The two laptops were exchanged at the maintenance visits. By November 2001, a new software system for the data storage laptop had been developed. Now only one laptop is needed, and the data are brought onshore on flash cards at each maintenance visit. Statistical 10-min mean values from the sonic system are also automatically sent to an onshore database by SMS every hour, and can also be accessed on the Internet with a personal login and password.
