On December 3, 1999 Denmark was hit by a hurricane exhibiting extremely fierce gusts<br />

- measurements from several places recorded speeds as high as 40-50 m/s. With wind<br />

speeds recorded of this magnitude, the hurricane was the fiercest in Denmark for more<br />

than 100 years.<br />

The <strong>Horns</strong> <strong>Rev</strong> site was hit by the hurricane in the afternoon with wind speeds (10-min.<br />

avg.) increasing from 15 m/s <strong>at</strong> noon to more than 45 m/s <strong>at</strong> 18.00 hours. The measured<br />
