FLOW FREQUENCY CURVESThe HEC-FFA (Flood Frequency Analysis) computer program (which incorporates the latest WRCGuidelines in Bulletin 17B) was used to compute the annual peak flow frequency curves—forOrestimba Creek near Newman (USGS gage no. 11274500 with 134 sq. mi. of drainage area), DelPuerto Creek near Patterson (USGS gage no.11274630, with 72.6 sq. mi. of drainage area), andSalado Creek above Interstate 5 (with 24.6 sq. mi. of drainage area)—by using ratios of Del PuertoCreek flows to compute the flow frequency curves, as was done in the original report. Gagelocations for Orestimba Creek and Del Puerto Creek are shown in Figure 1 as are the locations ofthe frequency curves. Salado Creek frequency curves were not used to compute any flows in thisreport; they were only updated to be used as a reference for future comparisons. Alternatives usingthe Salado Creek frequency curves studied in the earlier report are no longer considered viable andonly the Orestimba Creek alternatives remained.Del Puerto Creek frequency curves play an important part in this study: the volume-duration ratiosfor the local flows for Crow Creek are based on these same frequency curves. The methodsemployed at Salado Creek are consistent with the original hydrology.7
