PREP SCHOOLCelebrating SuccessApplause for a Year toRememberThere were tears and cheers as <strong>2012</strong> drew to aformal close for the <strong>KWS</strong> Prep <strong>School</strong> family.The Prep <strong>School</strong>’s ‘Celebration Ceremony’ washeld in the Derek Pigot Auditorium before a largeand enthusiastic audience of students and familymembers.The event opened with a welcome by outgoingHead Boy Hamish Mac Smith and Head GirlAilish Seedsman, and closed with the excitingannouncement of the Head Prefects for 2013,Oscar Tierney and Olivia Mirrington.In between, there were inspirational speechesby Principal Brian Kennelly and Head of Prep<strong>School</strong> Rob McLean.Rob spoke emotionally of the contributionsof all staff, students, parents and the extendedschool family, with a special farewell message tolong-serving staff member Jenny Emerson, whichproduced a standing ovation and more than afew tears.Performances by the Senior Band, Strings andWoodwind ensembles were warmly received,while the Kinders stole the show when theyreceived their ‘graduation certificates’.The ceremony concluded with the entire Prep<strong>School</strong> on stage singing ‘Lean On Me’, with theaudience happily joining in the chorus.Pictures: Top featured - Liam McKenzie and his classmates;Fin Brown and the <strong>2012</strong> Kindergarten students receiveawards; members of the Woodwind band perform.22
