Trip Back in TimeIn October Robyn Grzegrzulka, the daughter of an ex-PLC student, visited the school with her husband as they traced the life of hermum as a boarder at PLC in the 1930s.Jessie May Brenchley (known as May) attended the school from1929 until 1933.Robyn passed on a photo of May playing in the snow at PLCin 1929, and an analysis of the old PLC magazine, The Gleam, revealed entries showing May as a poet and keen writer. Evidenceof her father being a generous donor to the school in its early dayswas also uncovered.Picture: Jessie May Brenchley and herfriend Beatrice KillenAmy and TabathaExcel in VoiceTwo former KWS students were recently namedsemi-finalists in Australia’s richest classical andopera singing contest: the IFAC (InternationalFoundation for Art and Culture) AustralianSinging Competition.Sopranos Tabatha McFadyen (’07) and AmyCorkery (’05) were among 10 semi-finalistsselected from around Australia and NewZealand, with Tabatha making it through tothe final five.KWS is extremely proud of the young women’sstunning achievements, and we look forward tothe day when they will perform for us on their‘home stage’.31
