In dialogue with the customer,modifications can be incorporated duringthe design process until the desired functionalityof the component is finallyharmonised with the required castinggeometry and a minimum-risk technologyhas been produced for the casting.As a result of this thorough preparation,in that first order we were able to producea perfect component right from the veryfirst casting, not to mention the further80 castings since then.Mechanical machining demands a greatdeal of the manufacturing process, withbearing seat tolerances of ISO standardtolerance class 5 and contours with complicatedmathematical functions, amongother things. In addition to the hollowrotor shaft for the wind turbine, which hasnow been developed into a 6 MW plant, wealso supply the two bearing housings, thebrake disk, various covers and pressurerings.
