Publisher’s Letter Why a pen magazine? In a recent survey sent to readers of Stylus’ sister magazine, International Wristwatch, the readership made it clear that the obvious connection between fine writing instruments and wristwatches was far more than super- ficial. In fact, pens were and are the most popular item collected (other than watches of course) among those readers surveyed. The parallels are obvious. A watch tracks time, a pen writes, yet both are much more than the sum of their func- tions. The history behind them both is rich and indicative of human ingenuity, and when worn or used they offer a small window into the person- ality of the owner. The technical, aesthetic and historical relevance of both writing instruments and timekeepers is obvious, and Stylus will offer editorial content with these parallels in mind. Stylus will offer a full spectrum of content within the world of pens and writing instruments. From in-depth features on modern brands to technical and vintage editorial, our content will continue to diversify within the genre based on reader input. Stylus’ content will cover accessories for pens, as well as inks, papers, calligraphy, repair and more.
