Inspired Creations from Grayson Tighe B Y M E G A N L I V O L S I Grayson Tighe 20 ocToBer/novemBer 2003 s t y lu s Just three years ago, 18-year-old Grayson Tighe made his mark on the writing instrument industry as the youngest professional pen designer and maker in the world. Under the direct instruction of his father, renowned knife designer/maker Brian Tighe, designing and creating functional pieces of art seemed to come naturally for the young entrepreneur. When asked how he came to be involved in the writing instrument industry, Grayson explains, “Approximately four years ago, I was looking to buy a fine pen for myself. When I saw my choices, I was shocked to find that most pens were made o f p l a s t i c a n d plated brass. I was looking for an exclusive writing instrument that was well crafted with noble materials like a fine mechanical watch, or the art knives that I was familiar with. I thought that a pen was a great medium for artistic expression and from that point I set out to create my own fine pens, to my high standards.
