All researchwithin the department is of directbenefit to students, much of itdirectly concerning improvementsto student learning.Course structure and content- Graduate Certificates in HumanGeography, Physical Geography or Geospatial Techniques – twomodules- Graduate Diploma in Geography- one compulsory module andthree optional modules (at leastone human geography and onephysical geography module)- Graduate Diploma in HumanGeography, Physical Geography or Geospatial Techniques – fourcompulsory modules.Teaching methods and resourcesModules are delivered through aGeography modulesGraduate Certificates(2 modules)combination of lectures, practicals,field trips, projects, and on-linematerials, depending on your choice of modules. Classes occur on afortnightly basis in alternation. Eachhas three or four hours of contact perfortnight. Assessment varies betweenmodules, including laboratoryexercises, field work, reflectivediaries, projects, posters, seminarpresentations, essays, and exams.Modules may contain a field workelement, one or two days away at a local destination with tutor andsometimes external guidance. Coachor minibus transport is provided freeof extra charge. Destinations includeAvebury, Oxford, the Gordano Valleyand the River Exe catchment.
