Professional master’s programmePMP Core Research Modules forMaster’s Awards:The core modules that all participantsmust complete to progress towards aMaster’s dissertation are:- Research and the Professional:Part 1 – Research Methodology (15 credits)- Research and the Professional: Part2 – Project Preparation (15 credits)This then leads to:- Master’s Research Project (60 credits)Assessment methodsAssessment for most modules isbased on completing assignmentsrelated to professional learning tasks.An innovative range of assessmentmodes have been designed to reflecta diversity of professional needs andexperience.Post Compulsory Educationand Training (PCET) Certificate/Professional Graduate Certificatein Education (Lifelong Learning)This provision has been recognised asone of the best in the country during2007/8, when it was awarded a Grade1 in an OfSTED inspection. Theseawards are aimed at professionalsteaching and training in the ‘lifelonglearning’ sector. See page 64 for fulldetails.We also offer a generic PMPAward for those working in the furthereducation and adult training sectorlinked to our range of level 6 & 7qualifications:- Adult & Tertiary Education72Valuing Previous Learning (APL)Accreditation of Prior Learning(APL) can be offered if you havesuccessfully completed previousLevel 7 modules at another university.We accept APL for our PGDip orMaster’s qualifications. As a guide,a maximum of 90 credits may becredited towards a Master’s Degreeand 75 credits towards a PGDip. Wewill require a full transcript fromthe awarding university.It is also possible to gainaccreditation for other kinds ofprofessional development bycompiling an independent studyportfolio of professionaldevelopment (APEL - Accreditationof Prior Experiential Learning). We are keen to provideprofessional development whichreflects the changing contexts andpriorities of schools and our currentinvolvement ranges from specificCPD programmes for individualschools, or networks and clusters,through to strategic partnershipswith Local Authorities. Timings forbespoke school/LA centre basedmodules will be individuallynegotiated to meet the group’sneeds.
