Curatorial PracticeAssessment methods- The ability to deal with complexissues in the area of curatorialpractice history, theory and context,effectively employing skill in analysisand synthesis as necessary.- The ability to independently planand implement research activitiesin the subject fields of curatorialpractice, demonstratingprofessionalism, self-direction and originality.- The ability to effectively proposeand curate exhibitions, drawingon research and understanding.- The ability to initiate and contributeto debate and discussion in relationto curatorial practice.- The capacity to advance knowledge,learning and skills in the subjectfields of curatorial practice.Entry requirementsAdmission is normally based on agood undergraduate degree in anappropriate discipline together withan interview. Applicants with a goodhonours degree in a related disciplineand/or with relevant work experiencewill also be considered. Overseasapplicants will be assessed on thebasis of their qualifications andstatement included in the applicationform. To help applicants – especiallythose from overseas – to decide if thiscourse is appropriate for them, it isadvisable to contact the CourseDirector prior to application.EmployabilityTypical career destinations include:- Curatorial work in museums and galleries- Freelance curatorship- Galleries/Arts administration- Public Art- Critical writing, such as exhibitionreviews and catalogue essaysKey features- Collaborative relationships withmuseums and galleries- Access to in-house museum andgallery archives and specialisedlibraries for research study- Opportunities to curate exhibitions- Offers of internships to graduatingstudents36
