||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||Reinstalling the Windows clientIf you uninstall the version 6.4 Windows client, you can reinstall it if you need to.If you reinstall the Windows client into the same directory that it was installed inbefore, the previous configuration information is detected by the installationprogram. Because the previous configuration information is detected, theinstallation process is the same as an upgrade installation; follow the steps in“Upgrading the Windows client” on page 15 to reinstall the Windows client.If you do not want to preserve the old configuration information, you can removeit. For information about thoroughly removing client settings and files, see thearticle at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/wikis/home/wiki/Tivoli Storage Manager/page/How to completely remove theBackup-Archive client from Microsoft Windows.If you do completely remove all configuration settings and later decide to reinstallthe Windows client, follow the steps in “Installing the Windows client for the firsttime” on page 11. That procedure is the appropriate installation procedure tofollow if you reinstall the software into a different directory, or if you reinstall thesoftware on a system that contains no previous configuration information.Silent installationThe Tivoli Storage Backup-Archive Client installation program supports silent,unattended installations.Note: The backup-archive client requires the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010redistributable package as a setup prerequisite. The graphical installation programinstalls this package for you. If you are silently installing the client usingMSIEXEC, you must separately install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010redistributable package. The package can be installed before or after the silentinstallation of the client is performed, but it must be installed before you use thebackup-archive client.The C++ restributable package performs a self-check operation to determine if anyupdates are available on the web. If an update is available, the package downloadsand installs the update. After the update is installed, the C++ redistributablepackage reboots the workstation to register and use the updated libraries.
